25 Aug Almost September!

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into the final week of August! The kids are back in school, the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival has wrapped up, and those first little hints of fall are starting to show up around the Western Slope. 🍁

The real estate market is still moving!  I continue to see buyers looking, properties going under contract and sellers preparing homes to hit the market. As we head toward fall, this can be a great time to make a move. There may be fewer buyers than during the busy summer months, but the buyers who ARE looking tend to be serious.

There’s been a little encouraging movement with mortgage rates. According to Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 6.65% as of August 20, down for the second consecutive week. The 15-year fixed averaged 5.95%. Rates can vary significantly depending on the borrower and loan program, so talking with a good local lender is always the best way to know what your options really are.

We still need to be extremely careful across Western Colorado with fire season. Montrose County currently has Stage 2 fire restrictions in effect, and wildfire smoke can continue to affect our skies and air quality depending on conditions and wind direction. Please be cautious with anything that could create a spark and keep an eye on local alerts and restrictions.

Labor Day Weekend Is Coming! Summer may be winding down, but Western Slope fun certainly isn’t! The Ouray County Labor Day Rodeo is coming up September 7, along with plenty of other late-summer and early-fall activities throughout our area.
