25 Mar Hang in There!

Western Colorado is not closed. Mostly…. We are seeing a lot of offices and non-essential businesses have closed their doors but still are working. Some are working from home and some are actually at the office, it just isn’t open to the public. The grocery stores are still open and encouraging folks to social distance. They even have tape lines on the floor so you know how far behind someone you should stand while waiting in line to pay. Almost all restaurants are open for takeout and / or delivery. And I hear from one friend who is a server at a local restaurant that they are BUSY with takeout and delivery orders. That’s great news!
While these are weird, crazy and unprecedented times, we are still feeling optimistic here in Western Colorado. We come together as a community and support each other and local businesses in difficult times. One thing we are starting to see is virtual events from local businesses.
For example, March 26th, Provisions and other Ridgway sponsors are hosting a Virtual Happy Hour. Free to attend but they do need RSVPs for a count.
Also on the 26th, Colorado Hardy Plants is doing a virtual tour of their nursery for kids stuck at home. What a great idea!
Delta and Montrose Counties have formed an online support group which includes this Facebook page as well as a weekly call. There are specialized groups/calls as well for Food Service, Hospitality and more.
As of this morning, we are aware of 4 confirmed cases in Montrose County, 1 case in Delta County and 0 in Ouray County. This is not “official” – just what I’ve heard. So stay safe and well and be kind to each other!
