Happy August!

Happy August!  We hope you enjoy the last month of summer this year.  We are seeing the summer monsoon season in full force right now which is great for our moisture levels but can create havoc with mudslides over mountain passes.  Right now, Glenwood Canyon is inundated with such bad slides that I-70 is closed for at least this week, it is expected.  It could be longer if the rains continue and there are more slides.  A big part of the problem is that due to the extreme wildfires we had here in Colorado last summer, there are no trees and/or vegetation that have had a chance to grow back and prevent the dirt and mud from sliding when it gets saturated with rain. Here’s some news coverage of the slides – check out those photos!!

Despite the rain, there are still plenty of great events and fun things happening here on the Western Slope for August.  Delta County Fair just started and goes through this week.  The Olathe Sweet Corn Fest is coming this Saturday.  The Beach Boys are in concert in GJ on Sunday night.  Ridgway Rendezvous is the weekend of the 14-15th.  And much more!  For regular updates on the happenings around our area, checkout and follow our Facebook page.

And we look forward to helping you with any real estate questions you may have.  Contact us today and have a great week!!
